About Marcellus

I am a proud resident, born and raised in and around the City of Chicago at Michael Reese Hospital.  Over almost half of my life, I have lived in several different parts of the 4th Ward including South Commons, Hyde Park, the South Loop (Burnham Park Plaza), Prairie Shores and currently in my Bronzeville home where I have been for the last decade!

CIVIC

I'm not new to community involvement.  Below is a list of community involvement that I have been engaged in over the past several years:

I have participated in Real Men Read @ Jackie Robinson Elementary School, IL CHIP/Child ID programs at Shoesmith (aka Kenwood) Park & Carter Elementary School, participated in career days at numerous schools and worked with the Sutherland Community Arts Initiative (SCAI). Outside of the community, I , have managed the Mock Trial team for Morgan Park High School (leading them to a top 4 finish in 2014) and spoken at several events around the city.

PROFESSIONAL:

In my professional life I had an almost 10 year career with international & global companies including Booz Allen & Hamilton (management consulting), Jones Lang LaSalle and Grubb & Ellis (commercial real estate) where I represented clients including Bank of America, T-Mobile, Bally Total Fitness, Convergys Corporation and a host of other corporate clients.

I started my law office in 2009 and have been operating since that time.  My practice is largely composed of real estate, business litigation, and family law.  My real estate practice is composed of both residential and commercial transactions and litigation.  In my family practice, in addition to my regular client base, I currently serve as a Guardian ad Litem/Child Representative to Minor Children caught in the middle of separation & divorce matters.  I have been appointed to over 100 cases representing approximately 125 children in the past 18 months.

MY FAMILY!

I am so proud of my family and am also the VERY proud father of my three awesome children who are all the products of CPS schools!

I'm the oldest of three (3) siblings.  My sister is a high school teacher in California.  My brother works with a bank in North Carolina.

My father, Marcellus H. Moore, Sr. (retired), was an ophthalmologist on the southside of Chicago, operating an office at 26th & Michigan, 71st & Jeffrey (Jeffrey Plaza) and 85th & State and working at Mercy, Michael Reese, St. Bernard and other hospitals on the southside of Chicago throughout his career.

My mother, Toni Branton Moore (deceased), received her J.D. from DePaul University School of Law while managing a household of three children, but unfortunately passed before her graduation ceremony.

My grandfather, Wiley A. Branton, Sr., was a noted civil rights leader and attorney.  He worked directly with Thurgood Marshall on the famous Little Rock School Board case, Cooper v. Aaron. Among his many accomplishments, he was asked by Vice President Hubert Humphrey to serve as the Executive Director of the President's Council on Equal Opportunity.  His son, Wiley A. Branton, Jr., currently serves as a judge of the juvenile court and has been serving in that role for 23 yrs since he was first appointed in 1993.  My great uncle Leo Branton, Jr., was an attorney known best for representing Angela Davis, along with other notables including Nat King Cole and Jimi Hendrix.

This is just a snippet of who I am and where I come from.  if you're interested in learning more, feel free to ask!

Sincerely,
Marcellus Jr.
